2010 Contributions
Thank you all for participating in Run Away With My Heart 2010. Our inaugural event was a huge success with 347 registered participants. Although it was a cold day and the course was wet and muddy, the runners all came back to the finish line with smiles on their faces and only positive things to say about the course and the overall event. Thank you all for the great comments and we hope you continue to spread the word.
As you know, our goal is to raise money to donate to local organization. We are proud to say that our inaugural event raised over $8,000. This year, we made contributions to the following organizations. Please take a second to visit their site.

The Inaugural Event
In March 2009, the idea of an organized run in Imperial Oaks was just that – an idea. Two friends having dinner wondered what the possibility of having a race in their community would be. The idea went dead until a few months later when a developer mentioned a pristine, natural area adjacent to the community that was once used for sand mining. It was almost as if two light bulbs went on at the same time and the concept of a trail run became a reality.
Paul Alli and Kevin Hopkins set a date of February 13, 2010 and started planning the first-ever Imperial Oaks Run Away With My Heart Trail Run. Their mission: To develop a premier, annual running event in North Houston. After consulting with the organizers of other successful races, the RAWMH Race Directors assembled a team of dedicated volunteers to put their plan into action. Every detail – from the race logo to official timing chips – was considered.
Today, the RAWMH team is well on their way to making this inaugural event a success. A charitable organization was created and funds raised from the event will go towards several local charities, including the YMCA. Eventually, scholarships will be included. Your support is appreciated and know that any financial contribution you make will go towards a good cause. REFUNDS
There will be no refunds offered for this event, including weather-related cancellations.
WEATHER
Due to the nature of the trail, inclement weather could create hazardous running conditions. If weather prevents the event from occurring, the organizers will post an update on this website no later than 4:00 am on raceday. The event will not be rescheduled should this occur.
RESTRICTIONS
All runners will be required to wear a bib. Due to the nature of the course, no wheeled equipment (including bicycles, wagons, strollers, jogging strollers, roller skates, rollerblades, etc.) will be permitted. Pets are not allowed on the course. Please email info@runawaywithmyheart.com for more information on restrictions.
